LLP's OBJECTIVES

OUR VISION is to form a strong Midwest Latino community that will help increase representation of concerned Latinos in those positions that affect policy at all levels of society.

OUR MISSION is to promote the leadership skills of our Latino youth both to improve their educational opportunities and to promote a sense of responsibility toward their communities.

OUR GOALS are:

To implement programs which raise the ambitions of Latino youth by emphasizing academic achievement, social aptitude and responsibility, and comfort with authority.

To implement programs which unify the Latino community, which promote pride in their community, and which expose Latino youth to diverse and challenging perspectives.

To implement programs that bridge the gap between Latino students participating in higher education and younger Latino students, and to establish a mechanism of continuity within these programs by which this link is preserved even with a transient Midwest Latino population.

To implement programs that promote a widespread acceptance of diversity, increased cultural awareness, and the breaking of stereotypes, in order to make Iowa and the Midwest a welcoming place for all minorities.
